5 essential items for airport safety
Planning on catching a flight soon? Not sure what precautions to take on the plane? Don’t worry, I’ve got you covered.
Below is a list of ESSENTIAL ITEMS, that I swore by to keep me safe, when I travelled from Mumbai to London yesterday.
Disposable face masks
I changed my face mask multiple times during my trip from Mumbai to London. Every time I took my face mask off, I replaced it with a new one for sanitary reasons. I used four masks in total as follows:
From home to the gate
From the gate and on the plane
After I ate on the plane and to sleep in
When I woke up on the plane all the way until I got to my accommodation
I chose disposable masks over my usual Livinguard mask as they are more breathable (less thick) so I could sleep in them. I had also been advised to changed my mask every four hours by a healthcare professional.
Disinfectant wipes
Before I sat down during my trip, I disinfected the seat I would use with these wipes. If there was a table infront of me, I also wiped it down.
When I entered the plane, I disinfected my whole seat area including the tray table and entertainment system - as I knew I would touch this with my hands. I also disinfected the bathroom every time I used it.
Face shield (Visor)
To be really safe, it is advisable to wear a face shield at all times, from start to finish of your trip - yes, even during the flight!
Hand sanitiser
I used this every time my hands came in contact with a surface/person, before eating/drinking, before touching my face, and after I used the bathroom, in addition to washing my hands with soap/water - better to be safe than sorry!
Disposable gloves
I wore gloves from when I left the house until I got on the plane. I wanted to wear gloves as I knew I would be passing my traveI documents to officials and wanted to avoid skin contact.
I then disposed of my gloves on the plane and sanitised my hands so that I could eat/drink on the plane freely, without worrying about the spread of germs.
Before getting off the plane, I put my gloves on again to pass through immigration and handle my luggage safely. I only took my gloves off when I arrived home.
