How to do Oktoberfest if you're not a big beer fan

So this year was the second time that I went to Oktoberfest and it was AWESOME, even though I’m not a big beer fan!

For those who don’t mind having a beer, but it’s not their first choice drink, these are the top options for you to have a great time at Oktoberfest - without a full stein of beer.

1) THE RADLER

Radler is a half and half blend of beer and lemonade (Sprite) and often the same price as a beer. It looks like a beer to the untrained eye (BONUS), it’s not as heavy as drinking a full beer and it’s much less bitter in taste.

As someone who occasionally drinks beer, this was a big hit for me. I didn’t feel like I was compromising on the beer tent experience and still got some authentic Oktoberfest photos drinking from a stein.

2) NON-BEER TENTS

For the lively crowd that loves a good party, the Weinzelt is the place to be! It’s open during the day/night and serves wine (YAY!)

It also often ends up as the afterparty tent in the evening as it’s open until 1AM! (Most festzelts shut at 10.30PM). I would recommend going here as early as you can as it often gets packed out FAST.

Towards the end of the night (And open until 11PM) Zum Mohrenkopf is a less hectic vibe. It serves wine, hot beverages and live music from the 80s for you to dance to. However, not many young people come here as the crowd is often a little older.

3) THE RIDES AND FOOD STALLS

Oktoberfest isn’t just about drinking alcohol! There are plenty of rides for you to go on. The big wheel is a MUST for any Oktoberfest newbie as you can see the whole festival from the top of the wheel. The view is stunning especially at night.

If you’re a fan of food stalls at European christmas markets then Oktoberfest is the place for you.

Hot drinks/non-alcoholic beverages and amazing food can be found outside the tents in one of the hundreds of stalls, I personally LOVED the churro stall that was outside the Paulaner Festzelt this year.
